Every run ends at a lift. That is several minutes of natural review time followed immediately by another chance to test the change — a loop most sports never hand you.

01 · The product

A sensor on your board. A reconstruction on your phone.

Two parts. A lightweight module that clips to your board and records the run from the board's own frame, and an app that turns the recording into a 3D motion you can inspect from any angle. No tripod, no gate, no marker suit, no instrumented venue.

One vantage point, three measurements

Because the module is rigidly fixed to the board, everything it records already shares the board's coordinate frame. That is what makes body, board and trajectory comparable to each other instead of three unrelated data streams.

  • Body An upward camera view of the rider, resolved into 3D pose and body angles.
  • Board Inertial sensing of board attitude — which edge is engaged, how far, how long.
  • Space Speed, heading and the path the board travelled across the slope.

Replay the whole run, from any angle

The entire descent is rebuilt on the slope it happened on — your body, your board and the line you travelled. Move the camera to scenic, follow, or directly behind, and scrub to any instant. The board's contact band is drawn onto the snow behind you, so a clean carve and a slid turn stop looking like the same line.

See your weakest turn beside an expert's — and what to change

Every run is scanned for the turns actually worth opening: the one to work on and the one you got right. Put either beside a matched turn from an experienced rider, phase-aligned so initiation lines up with initiation even when the two turns are different lengths. The app then names the single difference that matters and gives you one cue for the next turn.

Progress you can prove, not badges

A core foundation with parallel branches — carving, freeride, ground tricks, park. Each skill is backed, or not backed, by measurements from your own turns, and every run reports which checkpoints it completed and what it unlocked. Where the data cannot yet support a skill, the app says so rather than awarding it anyway.

03 · Core technology

What makes it possible

Three problems have to be solved together. Solving any one of them alone produces data that cannot be checked against the other two.

Extreme-viewpoint body reconstruction

A full 3D body from a camera rigidly fixed to the board — an upward, foreshortened, heavily self-occluded view that general-purpose pose models are not trained for. The board frame is also what makes it tractable: the feet are fixed to a known rigid plane.

Multi-sensor fusion

Vision and inertial sensing solved into one coordinate frame and one clock, so body, board and trajectory can be compared against each other rather than merely displayed next to each other.

Motion understanding

Turning geometry into per-turn measurements a rider will act on — where a turn begins and ends, which edge, how much angle, how long it was held — and deciding which of them are worth surfacing at all.

The width of the trace is the measurement

This is the band the app draws on the snow behind you, seen from above. Roll the board onto its edge and the snow it touches collapses from the full width of the base to a line of steel — so a carve leaves a narrow, clean cut and a slide leaves a broad smear. Drag to change the edge angle.

The dashed outline is the full width of the base, for reference. Contact width is computed the way the product computes it: a base sunk into the snow and tilted by an angle touches across roughly the penetration depth divided by the sine of that angle, saturating at the width of the board.

Questions

Straight answers

Can I buy one?

Not yet. SnowEdge is in development and is not on sale. We are running demos and building an early-access group of riders, coaches, teams and resorts who want to use it this season and shape what it becomes. Request a demo and we will tell you honestly where it is.

How is this different from an action camera?

A camera records what the run looked like. SnowEdge measures what the motion was. We are not adding an AI summary on top of a video — the sensing system goes down the run with you so the data supports 3D reconstruction from the start. We do not replace your camera; we add a layer above it.

Is the coaching advice trustworthy?

Every cue is derived from the measured turn and shows the numbers it came from, so you can check it. The reference is a matched turn from an experienced rider — it is comparison evidence, not the one correct way to ride that terrain, and the app says so on the card itself.

Skis or snowboard?

Snowboard first, and deeply. Skiing shares the same underlying problem and is on the roadmap, but we would rather do one properly than both partially.

Who owns my data?

You do. Your runs are your movement history, and exporting or deleting them is your decision. If we ever want to use a session for research or development we will ask you first, in plain language.
